Criteria for Selection

Applicants to the Teacher in Residence program must:

be a professional from a country where education and training in the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) is limited
already possess the educational background, professional experience and appropriate licensure/credentialing in their home country to provide services to individuals with disabilities (e.g. special-education, speech-language pathology)
be committed to disseminating the skills and information they gain through the residency experience in their home country
have written commitment for support from their colleagues for assistance in the design and implementation of a dissemination plan
have spoken and written command of English sufficient to participate in professional discussions, university courses and with students and staff in an educational program
be eligible to qualify for an H3-B visa into the United States and an exit visa from their home country
