Bodi gets a little help with his Pathfinder from his trainer Ijeana.

The Institute is a training program for teachers, speech pathologists, classroom assistants, and others who work with AAC using children in a home or school environment. The training program focuses on:

augmentative communication

assistive technology

instructional strategies.

The Training Institute is more effective if participants attend with the AAC users they support. If this is not possible, we always have campers who need a trainer. An overnight camp experience lets Institute attendees see the children outside an academic environment and beyond the usual school hours. There is time to work, learn, teach and play in an environment designed to maximize communication.
Camp provides for intensive instruction, hands-on experience with technology and instruction from experts in the fields of AAC, AT and Special Education.
The week-long Training Institute is unique in that it provides:

intensive instruction

hands-on experience

instruction on technology applications

small group interaction

applied training activities

professional networking

access to experts in the fields of AAC, AT and Special Education.
