Can a parent attend Building Bridges Camp with their child?

No. We understand that this camp experience would be beneficial for parents, however, this camp program is not designed for parents to attend. We focus our training on supporting students in classrooms and school environments. The "trainers" that attend have similar goals, in that they are responsible for implementing curriculum for students who use AAC.

Who is responsible for the physical care of my child while at camp?

Campers are cared for by Camp Harmon counseling staff. These young adults are trained by Easter Seals of Central California staff in the care and handling of persons with disabilities. These "counselors" sleep in cabins with campers and are responsible for dressing, feeding, and bathing of campers.

Who will give my child their medication?

Camp Harmon employs a full-time nurse. All medications must be surrendered to the nurse at check-in, and the nurse then distributes medications to campers as prescribed.

Where do the campers sleep?

Cabin accommodations are pre-assigned based on gender and age. Each "cabin" will hold 6-8 campers (dormitory style). Single sized beds and a small chest will be available to each camper. Counselors sleep in the cabins with campers.

What is a "Trainer"?

A Trainer is attending the Training Institute portion of camp. This person is NOT responsible for physical care of the campers. Trainers attend activities with the campers in the morning and attend trainings held in computer labs during the afternoon and evening. Trainers stay in "trainer cabins". These cabins do not house any campers.
