During the week of June 22 - 28, 2003, campers, teachers and therapists came from all over the country to spend time living and learning about Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT) at the 10th consecutive Building Bridges Camp. Camp Harmon, in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, was transformed into the site of a grand mystery to match the theme of this year's camp activities. The campers started their adventure with the story of the AMAZING Mystery of the Brimgliph Candy Factory. Throughout the week everyone worked collaboratively to solve puzzles and answer riddles as they searched for the missing pieces of a secret candy recipe. The week ended successfully as the entire camp worked together to complete the puzzle, piece the recipe together and make the candy. The result was AMAZING!

Camp Harmon is an Easter Seals facility located near Boulder Creek, CA. The site is nestled in a redwood forest with accessible facilities including cabins, a lodge, a swimming pool and activity areas. It provides the environment for campers, trainers and staff to engage in group activities, participate in training lessons and enjoy the fun of a traditional summer camp!

We are grateful to the Lucky Brand Foundation for their generosity and support for the Building Bridges Camp program. Their commitment to "bringing happiness, comfort, and hope to disabled and disadvantaged children" takes wings from this camping experience and touches the lives of the families and professionals who participate. The Foundation's generous support allows us to provide this intensive program at a reasonable cost to families and professionals.

An activity of this magnitude cannot be successful without the participation and contributions of many individuals. We owe our success and a huge thank you to the staff of both the Bridge School and Camp Harmon for their hard work and dedication. Thanks also to Mark Bornholdt, Jennifer Deau, and Christina Szejk from DynaVox, Inc; Mark Sardo from Madentec, Inc., Joan Sharp from Prentke Romich Company and Mike Gendimenico for their technical expertise and training skills.
