DONATE YOUR "WHEELS"
As part of The Bridge School's Open Lab on April 5th, we are very fortunate to be able to assist Wheels for Humanity through Project Dreams with the collection of wheelchairs and other adaptive mobility equipment for distribution in Nicaragua.
Wheels for Humanity is a non-profit organization that collects used wheelchairs. Working entirely through volunteers, they restore and distribute them at no cost to the poorest of the poor in places where wheelchairs are unattainable luxuries. One of their most frequent destinations is Nicaragua.
Wheels for Humanity works with community leaders in the villages and towns of developing countries to identify individuals in greatest need. With the assistance of a team of health care professionals composed of physical therapists, occupational therapists and rehabilitation-seating specialists, each recipient is matched up with the wheelchair best fitting his or her needs.
Project Dreams operates as an umbrella under which non-profit organizations and compassionate individuals can work together toward a common goal. Their programs, projects, activities and events are focused on improving the overall quality of life in Nicaragua. They believe in grassroots efforts to meet their goals.
Project Dreams is assisting Wheels for Humanity by collecting donated wheelchairs, and other adaptive mobility, seating and standing equipment for San Ramon, Nicaragua. If you would like to help by donating some "wheels," please come to the Bridge School Open Lab on April 5, 2003. Not only will you be helping families with disabled children, you will have the opportunity be a part of this important project.
