In the spirit of the holiday season, the Bridge School students held a bake sale to support the Toys for Tots organization. This is a national organization, supported by local fire departments, that collects toys and gifts for children from low-income families. In the days before the sale, staff and parents helped out by baking all sorts of cookies, cupcakes and muffins. Then on Friday, December 10th, the students spent their recess time busily selling the treats to their neighboring North School friends on the playground. The result was tremendous! They raised enough money to take a trip to Toys R Us and return with bagfuls of toys to be given away. Many students would agree that the best part of the whole event was actually a few days later when the Hillsborough Fire Department arrived at the Bridge School in their fire truck to pick up the toys.
