Dan Paulin, Ace Reporter, Interviews Paul McCartney

Dan Paulin, 14, is a former Bridge School student. He uses multiple modes to communicate including the Pathfinder AAC device and finger spelling. He interviewed rock legend, Paul McCartney at the 18th annual Bridge School Benefit Concert on October 24, 2004. Following the interview his mother asked him questions to help him write this article.

Mom: When did you decide you wanted to talk to Paul?
Dan: When I first saw him perform.

Mom: What happened at that time?
Dan: He came over to me and held my hand and I saw something in his eyes.

Mom: What did you see in his eyes?
Dan: Love.

Mom: What was it like talking to Paul?
Dan: I was scared and excited.

Mom: What did you ask him?
Dan: What is your favorite animal?

Mom: What did he say?

Dan: A horse.

Mom: What did you ask him next?
Dan: What is your favorite color?

Mom: What did he say?
Dan: Blue.

Mom: Did you ask him another question?
Dan: Where do you live?

Mom: What did he say?
Dan: In a town in England.

Mom: Did you ask him anything else?
Dan: What toy did you love when you were a kid?

Mom: What was it?
Dan: A fort that his uncle made for him.

Mom: Then what happened?
Dan: He asked me what is my favorite song?

Mom: What did you tell him?
Dan: "When I saw her face" by the Monkeys.

Mom: What he did he say?
Dan: He and his band members call themselves the Monkeys when they're going onto the stage.

Mom: You mean they sing "hey hey we're the Monkeys" as they go out to perform?
Dan: Yes.

Mom: What else happened while you were with Paul?
Dan: I held his baby's hand.

Mom: What did she do?
Dan: She put her face in her father's chest.

Mom: Why do you think she did that?
Dan: Because she was shy.

Mom: What did you think of her?
Dan: I thought she was cute.

Mom: What was the best thing about meeting Paul McCartney?
Dan: Asking him these questions.

Mom: What do you think of Paul McCartney?
Dan: I think he is cool.

Mom: What is your favorite Beatles song?
Dan: She Was Just Seventeen.

Mom: Is there anything you want to say about this experience?
Dan: Yes.

Mom: What is that?
Dan: I had fun doing it.

Mom: It's possible that people from different parts of the world will read this story. Is there something you would like to say to them?
Dan: Yes.

Mom: What's that?
Dan: Stop killing all people.
