Pegi Young, Receives ISAAC President's Award for 2002
This past August in Odensk, Denmark, Pegi Young, Bridge School Founder and President of the Board of Director's, was honored by Sue Balandin, President of ISAAC (the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication) by being selected as the recipient of the ISAAC President's Award for 2002.
This award is given by the current president of ISAAC to someone who the president believes has made a major contribution to the field of AAC and to ISAAC. Each president chooses a recipient based on their work or achievements which support the mission of ISAAC. In reflecting on her selection, Sue Balandin stated, "I chose Pegi because I believe that she makes an ongoing significant contribution to the mission of ISAAC by providing the opportunity for people from developing countries to learn more about AAC and service delivery through the very generous Bridge School International Teacher in Residence Scholarship."
Past recipients of the President's Award have included: Luis Azevedo, Liz Baer, David Beukelman, Joan Bruno, Barbara Collier, Orit Herzroni, Sudha Kaul, Lyle Lloyd, Pat Mirenda, Michael Williams, and David Yoder.
Pegi's family, as well as a small group of staff from The Bridge School, were on hand at the 2002 Biennial Conference to support her well deserved recognition and honor.
